ABOUT US
The Illinois Theatre Consortium was formed in 1995 to provide
not-for-profit management services for three unique theatre
companies--Illinois Voices Theatre, New Route Theatre, and Seedling
Theatre. Each of these semi-proessional theatre companies fills
the needs of under-served audiences in Illinois.
Illinois
Voices Theatre brings history to life, giving precise attention not
only to theatrical quality but to the accurate representation of
the very real citizens who built and sustained Illinois.
New
Route Theatre provides original and traditional
theatrical productions to civic and church groups, schools,
societies, and corporations. These productions are intended to
enlighten as well as provoke discussion and understanding.
Seedling
Theatre develops children's theatre projects, including educational
workshops in creating theatre as well as theatrical productions put on
by and for children and youth.
Under
the umbrella of the Illinois Theatre Consortium, these theatres
encourage and develop Illinois artists, providing opportunities to
perform, design, direct, write, and inspire. All three theatre
companies seek and enjoy collaborations with other theatre groups, arts
organizations, museums, libraries, schools, civic groups, agencies,
business organizations, and individuals who want to bring the
experience of quality theatre to Illinois.
The
Illinois Theatre Consortium is a federally recognized 501(c)3
organization and a not-for-profit corporation in good standing in the
State of Illinois. ITC follows a fiscally sound business model
based on commissions and performance contracts supplemented by
sponsorships and grants. Artists, designers, directors, and
playwrights receive small honoraria in recognition of their work.
At this time, all other functions of production and
administration are performed by dedicated, talented volunteers.
By intention, ITC does not support a "bricks and mortar" theatre. ITC theatre companies bring performances to
the audience, playing in schools, conference centers, churches, and
even cemeteries. Donations, grants, and sponsorships go directly into
producing high quality theatrical experiences.
