Commission an Original Production
Is your organization celebrating a special anniversary, planning
a recognition event, or looking for a powerful way to represent who you
are to the public? You may want to work with an ITC theatre to explore
your history through drama or to excite discussion and interest in
issues that concern your organization.
Our collaborators include:
- The McLean County Historical Society
- Bloomington Center for
the Performing Arts
- The David
Davis Foundation
- McLean County Chamber of Commerce
- The City of Bloomington
- The League of Women Voters
Contact Judy Brown, Artistic Director of Illinois Voices Theatre, or Don Shandrow, Artistic Director of New Route Theatre,
to discuss the possibilities. We will work with your goals,
historical materials, and/or needs to develop an orginal dramatic
presentation tailored to your organization.
Book a Production Already in Our Repertory
Send the Light, an original play about the changes brought about through bringing electricity to rural areas (New Route Theatre)
I, Alpheus Pike is
a dramatization of an unpublished Civil War memoir by Alpheus
Pike, who enlisted in the Union
Army at the age of fourteen, was captured by Rebel forces and held at
the notorious Andersonville Prison. The play dramatizes Pike's
wartime
experiences, exposes the dreadful conditions at Andersonville, and
reveals Pike's attitudes toward the war, its leaders, and the
privations he endured. (Illinois Voices Theatre)
Madame Senator: A Dramatic Portrait of Florence Fifer Bohrer, a one-woman show exploring the life of Illinois' first female state senator. (Illinois Voices Theatre)
Madame Senator Speaks, excerpts from Senator Bohrer's
speeches coordinated into a presentation of issues and concerns for
citizens of the early 20th century as well as now (45 minutes). (Illinois Voices Theatre)
Hearts Connecting: the Civil War Letters of Charles and Mary Elder, a touching dramatization of the loving letters between a soldier and the woman he left behind. (Illinois Voices Theatre)

Character Packages for Special Events
Are you looking for a program to celebrate African-American History
Month or Women's History Month? Perhaps your organization would
like to see characters representing the real lives of area attorneys,
entrepreneurs, rights activists, union workers, Civil War veterans,
politicians, and others. We can work with you to put
together a group of our repertory characters who will enlighten and
entertain your group or organization. Contact Judy Brown, Illinois Voices Theatre, for more information and ideas for character combinations.
